Getting Started in the Salvation Army Program @ Asbury

Welcome to Asbury University! This document is designed to provide pertinent information about the program, the technology and your student account with Asbury.

What You Need to Know to Get Started:

Asbury University Email

Every student at Asbury University receives a unique email address to communicate with professors and other students and stay informed about campus activities. After you have been accepted by the University, you should receive an email containing your network credentials (username and password). Once you have these credentials, you can log into your Asbury Email, your Student Portal, and more!


Your Asbury email account is an Outlook Exchange account and can be added to Microsoft Outlook on your computer, to your phone, or you can access your O365 account online. To access online, type into the URL bar of your browser (Chrome, Firefox or Safari) and sign in with your Asbury email address and password.

How to Reset Your Asbury Password

You can reset your Asbury password or unlock your account at anytime by logging into Before you can change your password or unlock your account, you must setup your account. You will not be able to change your password (in the case of a forgotten password) if you have not already set up your account. Changing the password here will change it for all Asbury sites: Discovery, your Student Portal, etc.

Accessing Your Student Portal

Through your Student Portal you can register for classes, complete your financial registration, view your unofficial transcript, update your emergency contact and more. In addition, it displays your classification, advisor, major, and any minors you have declared. Please see the section on Registering for Classes for more information on class registration.

Registering for Classes

***Salvation Army officers enrolled in the Ministry Management program will work with Kristi Boss to enroll in the appropriate classes each year. For questions regarding enrollment, please contact Kristi Boss at 859-858-3511 ext. 2925***

You can register for your in-person and online classes through your Student Portal. You will receive an email from the Registrar's office detailing your registration period. During this time, you can add and drop classes through your Student Portal.

Discovery is the service powered by D2L Brightspace that Asbury uses for online class management. Students taking online classes will find all of their course content, assignments, syllabi, etc. on Discovery. Many professors teaching in-person classes also use Discovery to upload their syllabi and provide a place for online submission of assignments. As a student at Asbury, you will want to frequently check Discovery to stay up-to-date on your classes.

All online courses will use Zoom for virtual class sessions. Please see the link below for more information on using Zoom for your classes.

Finding and Ordering Textbooks

You can check the books required for a class before or after you register for the course. You can either go to or check the required texts through your Student Portal. Both of these methods are explained in this document:
