Overview
This document will explain how to create a shortcut to a file or folder, useful when you have a network share drive folder you may need to access quickly from your desktop in Windows. For macOS, please check: How to create a Finder shortcut

Steps to making a shortcut
- Open File Explorer and find your file or folder (W+E)
- Right-click the target item.
- Select show more option if you are using Windows 11.
- Click create shortcut from the menu.
- Move the new shortcut to any location you like, such as the desktop.

Quick Drag-and-Drop Method
- Open the destination folder/location in File Explorer or keep your target folder/location visible.
- Click and drag the item into your new location, then press and hold the alt key on your keyboard, then let go of the mouse.
- Alternatively, you can right click, hold, and drag the folder to the new location.
