Disabling Private WiFi Mac Addresses on Android Devices
Overview
Since iOS 14, Android phones and tablets have by default enabled a Private Wifi MAC addresses. This means that any Android device on the network that was previously registered with connect.asbury.edu or authenticated via login.asbury.edu will receive a new MAC address on the network each time it is connected. This feature is known to cause trouble while accessing the network. This article walks through how to disable this feature when connecting to the Asbury WiFi network.
How to Turn off Private Address
The Private WiFi Mac Address setting is enabled by default on some Android phones. Once disabled, the device should get its original IP address back and once again be able to access the internet. Here's how you ensure the Private Address setting is turned off:
Open the Settings app, then tap "Wi-Fi".
Find the "Asbury Wireless" network in the list of available networks and then tap the gear icon beside the name.
On OnePlus and Pixel phones, select "Use Device MAC". If you have a Samsung device select "MAC address type" and chose "Phone MAC". Your phone may offer slightly difference choices, but look for something similar.

Once you've completed these steps you should be able to register your Android phone using Asbury Connect without any warning or error message. If this does not work for you , please contact the Asbury IT Service Desk for assistance.
